War On Terror Has Cost Pakistan Setback Of $100 Billion

Islamabad: War on terrorism has resulted in loss to $ 100 million to Pakistan over the decades, stated the Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday. He accounted in direct losses as the major ones. Mr. Dar unrevealed of the PML-N’s strategies to devise better economic conditions of the country in particular.The SDPI organized conference invited the Finance Minister to share his views. To which he spoke of combating the militant issues through unanimous September 2013 policy.

Being questioned by the journalists, the Finance Minister said that around $ 100 million loss stands to the country on account of war on terror. He answered that the committee formed to calculate the financial loss the country through wagging its war against terrorism has not yet achieved the final results. ‘They need to satisfy me first, before going to the public’, he added.Dar on the occasion share details of PM’s visit to US. He briefed the meeting, stating that Nawaz Sharif has asked US to increase its investment and trade ties with Pakistan. This time, the PM had not gone to ask for financial assistance but to attain financial stability through US co-ordination in the respective fields.
Dar said that public debt for the year 2012-2013 had rose to Rs. 14.5 trillion. 3 % increase in GDP had been witnessed in a year span raising the figure to 63 %. Now, the government looks forward to decreasing the statistics to 60 % through its financial control strategies.
